Job summary

Placements24 seeks an experienced Heritage Architect for our client in Kimberley, Northern Cape. The role centers on preservation, restoration, and adaptive reuse of historical buildings, with collaboration across heritage consultants and authorities.

You will conduct heritage assessments, develop conservation strategies, and document interventions that respect historical integrity. A master’s degree with 7+ years of practice is expected.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Architecture with a specialization in Conservation or Heritage Studies.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in architectural practice with a focus on heritage conservation.
• In-depth knowledge of South African heritage legislation and policies.
• Proficiency in architectural design software (AutoCAD, Revit).
• Strong understanding of historical building materials and conservation techniques.
• Excellent analytical, research, and communication skills.
• Passion for heritage preservation and adaptive reuse.

Responsibilities

• Conduct architectural assessments and research for heritage buildings and sites.
• Develop conservation management plans and heritage impact assessments.
• Design and document restoration, rehabilitation, and adaptive reuse projects for heritage structures.
• Ensure designs comply with national and provincial heritage legislation and guidelines.
• Collaborate with heritage authorities, clients, and construction teams on heritage projects.
• Specify appropriate conservation materials and techniques.
• Provide expert advice on heritage matters and building conservation.
• Prepare detailed drawings, reports, and presentations for heritage projects.
