Job summary

Placements24 in Bloemfontein is seeking an experienced Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to diagnose, repair and maintain a diverse fleet of heavy-duty trucks, buses and specialized vehicles. You will ensure roadworthiness and optimal performance in a well-equipped workshop.

The role requires hands-on work with diesel engines, transmissions and hydraulic systems, using diagnostic tools and software, in varying weather. A relevant trade qualification and a heavy vehicle license are essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Heavy Vehicle Mechanic or Truck Mechanic.
• Knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions and heavy vehicle systems.
• Experience with diagnostic equipment and software for heavy-duty vehicles.
• Physically capable to perform demanding tasks in varying weather.
• Trade qualification such as Diesel Mechanic is essential.
• Valid driver's license, preferably with heavy vehicle endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on heavy vehicle engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, and hydraulic systems.
• Conduct scheduled maintenance, inspections, and preventative servicing to minimize downtime.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic data to identify and resolve complex issues.
• Utilize specialized tools and equipment for heavy vehicle maintenance and repair.
• Ensure all work performed complies with safety regulations and industry best practices.
• Maintain accurate service records and report on vehicle condition and required repairs.
