Placements24 in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal seeks a skilled Heavy Duty Vehicle Technician to service a diverse fleet of trucks and commercial vehicles. You will inspect, maintain and repair heavy‑duty diesel engines, powertrains and related systems to minimise downtime and maximise reliability.

The role requires proven experience, a trade qualification in diesel mechanics, and proficiency with diagnostic tools.

Qualifications

Proven experience as a Heavy Duty Vehicle Technician or Diesel Mechanic.
Trade qualification in diesel mechanics or equivalent.
Strong understanding of heavy-duty diesel engine repair and maintenance.
Proficiency with diagnostic tools for commercial vehicles.
Ability to work in a physically demanding environment and handle heavy components.
Valid driver’s license (Code 10 or higher).

Responsibilities

Perform detailed inspections and preventative maintenance on heavy-duty trucks and trailers.
Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, braking systems, and suspension.
Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems specific to commercial vehicles.
Conduct routine servicing, including fluid changes, filter replacements, and component checks.
Use diagnostic software and equipment to identify mechanical and electrical faults.
Ensure all repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and to industry standards.
