Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our client’s operations team in Vereeniging, Gauteng. The role focuses on maintenance and repair of heavy-duty diesel vehicles to ensure reliability and safety across a large fleet.

You will diagnose engine issues, perform preventative maintenance, and repair diesel-powered machinery using specialist tools in a demanding industrial environment. A valid driver’s license (heavy vehicle preferred) is required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic, preferably with heavy-duty vehicles.
• Strong understanding of diesel engine components, fuel systems, and emissions control.
• Proficiency with diagnostic software and tools specific to diesel engines.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy-duty diesel engines, transmissions, and related systems.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance tasks, including fluid changes, filter replacements, and inspections.
• Utilize specialized diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and resolve complex mechanical problems.
• Conduct thorough inspections and recommend necessary repairs or upgrades for optimal performance.
• Maintain detailed service logs and ensure all work adheres to safety and environmental regulations.
