Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Head of Strength and Conditioning to lead an elite performance facility in Sandton, Gauteng. You will oversee program design, athlete monitoring, and a team of coaches, ensuring safe practice and evidence-based training across multiple sports.

You will collaborate with sports scientists, physiotherapists, and head coaches to optimize performance, drive injury prevention, and integrate S&C into broader development plans.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Sports Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, or related field.
• 8+ years of progressive strength and conditioning experience, with at least 4 years in leadership within elite sport environments.
• Accreditation with SASP/NSCA/CSCS.
• Proven expertise in designing evidence-based training programs for high-performance athletes.
• Strong knowledge of biomechanics, physiology, and injury prevention principles.
• Demonstrated experience in managing and developing a team of coaches.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in performance monitoring technology and data analysis software.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• A passion for elite athlete development and a commitment to continuous professional development.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and mentor the strength and conditioning coaching team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
• Design, implement, and periodize comprehensive strength and conditioning programs tailored to the needs of individual athletes and teams.
• Oversee athlete monitoring, assessment, and data analysis to inform training prescriptions and track progress.
• Ensure the safe and effective use of all training equipment and facilities.
• Collaborate with sports scientists, medical staff, and head coaches to integrate S&C strategies with athlete development plans.
• Stay abreast of the latest research, trends, and technologies in S&C science.
• Manage the S&C department budget effectively.
• Develop and deliver educational workshops for athletes and coaches on performance enhancement and injury prevention.
• Contribute to the club's talent identification and recruitment processes.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant sports regulations and ethical guidelines.
