Job summary

Our client, a respected sports academy in Gauteng, seeks a Lead Athletic Performance Coach to design and implement strength and conditioning programs for elite athletes across disciplines. You will optimize performance, prevent injuries, and guide recovery within a collaborative team of coaches, medical staff, and athletes.

The ideal candidate holds a Master's in Sports Science or related field, at least 5 years of elite coaching experience, and CSCS or equivalent certification.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Sports Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of elite-level athletic performance coaching experience.
• CSCS certification or equivalent is required.
• Proven ability to design programs for diverse athletes across sports.
• Strong biomechanics, physiology, nutrition, and injury prevention knowledge.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and motivational skills.
• Experience with performance monitoring technologies and data analysis.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
• Willingness to work varied hours including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor strength and conditioning programs.
• Conduct performance assessments to identify strengths and weaknesses.
• Educate athletes on training techniques, injury prevention, and nutrition strategies.
• Collaborate with sport coaches to align training with team goals and competition schedules.
• Work with the sports medicine team to facilitate rehabilitation and return-to-play protocols.
• Stay current with the latest research and best practices in sports science and athletic performance.
• Oversee the selection, maintenance, and safe use of training equipment.
• Mentor and guide junior coaching staff and interns.
• Maintain accurate records of athlete progress, training data, and injury status.
• Foster a positive, motivating, and safe training environment.
