Placements24 seeks a seasoned Head of Event Logistics and Infrastructure to lead planning, development, and execution of logistical elements for major sporting events and festivals. The role focuses on venue design, transport coordination, and safety, across Vereeniging and other locations.

The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in site planning, temporary infrastructure, and event production, with strong leadership and budget management skills to deliver safe, high-quality events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Logistics Management, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field.
• Master's degree is a plus.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in managing complex logistics and infrastructure for large-scale events.
• Proven expertise in site planning, temporary infrastructure management, and event production.
• Strong understanding of health, safety, and security protocols in event management.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, development, and execution of all logistical and infrastructural elements for major sporting events and festivals.
• Oversee the selection, design, and setup of event venues, including temporary structures, stages, seating, and sanitation facilities.
• Manage all aspects of event transportation, including athlete, staff, and spectator movement, as well as equipment logistics.
• Develop and implement comprehensive site plans, ensuring optimal flow of people and resources, and adherence to safety regulations.
• Coordinate closely with security teams, emergency services, and local authorities to ensure a safe and secure environment for all attendees.
• Manage and negotiate contracts with suppliers and vendors for infrastructure, technology, catering, and other logistical services.
• Develop and manage event budgets related to logistics and infrastructure, ensuring cost-effectiveness and value for money.
• Oversee the implementation of robust risk management strategies for all logistical operations.
• Manage a team of logistics coordinators and on-site operational staff, providing leadership and direction.
• Ensure all infrastructure and logistical plans comply with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Liaise with internal departments (marketing, sponsorship, operations) and external stakeholders to ensure seamless event delivery in Vereeniging and other locations.
