Placements24 seeks a visionary Head of Aquatics and Wellness Programs in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, to lead operations of a state-of-the-art facility. You will drive strategic development, implement comprehensive aquatic and wellness programs, and ensure exceptional member experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Recreation Management, Kinesiology, or related field.
• Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CPO, Lifeguard Instructor) are highly advantageous.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in managing aquatic facilities and/or comprehensive fitness and wellness programs.
• Proven leadership experience, with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team.
• Extensive knowledge of aquatic operations, pool safety regulations, and water-based fitness programming.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a strategic vision for the aquatics and wellness departments, aligning with the overall business objectives.
• Oversee the daily operations of all aquatic facilities, ensuring highest safety and cleanliness standards.
• Design, implement, and manage a wide range of aquatic programs (swimming lessons, water aerobics, lifeguard training, competitive swimming).
• Create and oversee innovative wellness programs (fitness classes, personal training, health workshops, rehabilitation services).
• Manage budgets for both departments, control expenses, maximize revenue through program fees and memberships.
• Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate staff (instructors, lifeguards, trainers, admin).
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and industry regulations for aquatic and fitness facilities.
• Develop and implement marketing strategies to increase participation in aquatics and wellness programs.
• Monitor industry best practices and introduce new trends and technologies.
• Build relationships with community partners, health organizations, and sports clubs in Mpumalanga.

Key Responsibilities

• Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate staff, including swim instructors, lifeguards, fitness trainers, and administrative personnel, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and industry regulations for aquatic and fitness facilities.
• Develop and implement marketing and promotional strategies to increase participation in aquatics and wellness programs.

• Experience in the Nelspruit region or South Africa is a plus.
• Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as required by facility operations in Nelspruit .
