To provide legal advice to the Group and lead the Group’s legal function in the management of legal and contractual risk across all functions within the Group.

Minimum Qualifications
- LLB Degree
- Admitted Attorney
Minimum Experience
- Must have a minimum of 6 years’ experience post qualification experience.
- Have experience in Corporate Commercial Law and Commercial litigation.
- Have experience as an in-house counsel at a company.
- Have had exposure in a regulated industry.
- Must have previous experience in the healthcare industry.

Deliverables
- Provide strategic legal advice

- Obtain instructions from the relevant hospitals or functions within the Group
- Coordinate the work of external counsel and attorneys
- Develop a bespoke litigation strategy for the Group
- Manage the litigation budget
- Advise the board and executive team on legal governance matters

- Conduct training and awareness
- Inspire the development of policies to manage or curb legal risk within the Group
- Monitor compliance with POPIA
- Conduct legal due diligence investigations on the purchase of new business and draft the relevant transactional agreements
- Develop and maintain relationships with contracted legal firms to ensure quality of services offered to the Group
- Provide legal input and advice on media strategies, media statements as well as reviewing and amending the internal media policy and drafting responses for ad hoc public relations issues
- Collaborate with various departments (i.e., Risk and Compliance, Procurement, Hospital Operations) to mitigate and minimise legal and related risks
- Lead and/or manage the Legal team meetings and ensure participation from all parties
- Demonstrate visible leadership in respect of company values, operating model and strategy
- Sponsor company initiatives and projects related to Legal
- Reduce the Group’s financial risk, including insurance risk by applying sound legal advice and principles
- Negotiate preferential rates with external law firms and legal counsel based on volumes
- Drive adherence to statutory standards, policies, and procedures within the business unit to ensure compliance at all times and take remedial action where necessary
- Apply and maintain the risk management framework for the function and enterprise
