Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Mechanic or Technician, focusing on heavy equipment or GSE.
• Strong knowledge of diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
• Ability to read repair manuals, schematics and diagnostic codes.
• Experience with diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Knowledge of workplace safety regulations and good troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Valid driver's license and flexibility for varied hours.

About the Role

Our client, a dynamic aviation services provider supporting operations in the Upington, Northern Cape region, is seeking a skilled Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Technician for a contract position. This role is crucial for ensuring the operational readiness and safety of all GSE vehicles and equipment used on the airport tarmac. The technician will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of a wide range of GSE, including pushback tugs, belt loaders, baggage tractors, and aircraft stairs. This hands-on position requires a strong mechanical aptitude and a thorough understanding of diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems within the context of specialized airport equipment.
