About the Role

Our client is seeking a reliable and skilled Aircraft Ground Support Equipment Technician to maintain their fleet of essential ground equipment in Stellenbosch, Western Cape . This role is vital for ensuring the smooth and safe operation of airport activities by keeping equipment like baggage loaders, pushback tractors, and de-icing units in optimal working condition. You will be responsible for inspection, preventative maintenance, and repair of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems. Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on a variety of aircraft ground support equipment (GSE), including mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, using appropriate diagnostic tools and technical manuals.
• Maintain accurate service records, documenting all maintenance performed, parts replaced, and testing conducted.
• Ensure all GSE operated and maintained meets safety regulations and operational standards for aviation environments.
• Operate various types of GSE safely for testing and functional checks after repairs.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Technician maintaining mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems, preferably on ground support equipment or heavy machinery.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic information.
• Skilled in using common mechanic's tools, diagnostic equipment, and welding equipment if applicable.
• A strong understanding of safety procedures, especially within an aviation and airport environment.
• Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
