Qualifications

• Trade qualification as a Mechanic (Diesel/Petrol) or Auto Electrician.
• Minimum 3 years maintaining and repairing heavy machinery, vehicles, or specialized equipment.
• Experience with GSE is advantageous.
• Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to read technical manuals and schematics.
• Proactive and detail-oriented, able to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on various types of GSE, including baggage tractors, belt loaders, aircraft stairs, and air start units.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults in GSE.
• Conduct preventative maintenance as per manufacturer recommendations and company schedules.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance, repairs, and inspections performed on GSE.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies related to GSE operation and maintenance.
• Operate GSE safely and efficiently as required.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and perform emergency repairs to minimize operational disruption.
• Manage inventory of spare parts and ensure availability for timely repairs.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations relevant to workshop and airport environments.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to obtain airport security clearance.
• Must be legally authorized to work in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal.
