Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Grid Operations Specialist to ensure the Richards Bay area's grid operates reliably in real time. You will monitor, coordinate outages and support integration of new energy resources.

The role requires deep knowledge of power system dynamics, strong decision-making under pressure, and collaboration with diverse energy stakeholders to maintain grid stability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in power utility operations or grid management.
• Strong knowledge of power system operations, protection and control systems.

Responsibilities

• Monitor real-time status of the power grid and respond to issues and emergencies.
• Coordinate planned and unplanned outages with generation, transmission and distribution entities.
• Analyze grid performance data to identify reliability issues and propose improvements.
• Ensure compliance with operational standards and regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to grid planning studies and provide input for system upgrades and new connections.
