Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Grid Operations Specialist to join its remote operations center, serving Soweto and the surrounding region. You will monitor grid performance, analyze operational data, and coordinate responses to disturbances in real time.

The role requires a strong technical background in power systems, experience with SCADA, and excellent analytical and communication skills to collaborate with field crews and plants.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in power systems operations or grid management.
• Strong knowledge of grid principles, power flow, and stability; proficiency with SCADA.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the real-time status of the electrical grid, including load, generation, and transmission line conditions.
• Analyze operational data and system alarms to identify potential issues and disturbances.
• Coordinate with field crews, power plants, and other stakeholders to manage grid operations and respond to emergencies.
• Implement operational procedures to maintain grid stability, balance supply and demand, and prevent outages.
• Maintain accurate logs and documentation of grid operations, events, and actions taken.
