Placements24 is seeking a vigilant Grid Operations Specialist to join our critical infrastructure team in Polokwane. You will monitor and manage stability of the electricity grid, focusing on integrating renewable energy and ensuring uninterrupted power supply.

The role requires a power systems background, real-time fault detection, and the ability to react decisively in dynamic environments. You will work with SCADA, grid modeling tools, and coordinate with generation and distribution

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field is required.
Minimum of 5 years in power system operations or related utility role.
Proficiency with SCADA and grid modeling tools.
Strong understanding of power generation, transmission, and distribution.
Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

Monitor real-time grid operations with SCADA and tools to detect anomalies.
Respond to disturbances and outages; implement corrective actions.
Analyze grid data to identify trends and optimize load balancing.
Coordinate with generation, transmission, and distribution to maintain stability.
Develop procedures to ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
Contribute to grid planning and modernization projects.
