Placements24 is seeking a diligent Grid Operations Specialist to join a Benoni-based team. You will monitor the regional power distribution network, respond to disturbances, and coordinate operational activities to ensure uninterrupted energy supply.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering and at least five years in power system operations. Proficiency with SCADA and grid monitoring software, plus strong communication, is essential for success in our hybrid on-site/remote model.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field.
• 5+ years in power system operations, grid control, or distribution network management.
• Proficiency with SCADA systems and other grid monitoring software.
• Strong understanding of power flow, load balancing, and electrical system protection principles.
• Ability to work under pressure and make critical decisions during grid events.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills for a hybrid operational environment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor real-time power grid operations using SCADA systems and other relevant tools.
• Respond to and manage power system disturbances, outages, and emergency situations.
• Coordinate switching operations and planned maintenance activities on the distribution network.
• Analyze grid performance data to identify potential issues and recommend operational improvements.
• Communicate effectively with field crews, control centers, and other stakeholders during normal and emergency operations.
• Ensure compliance with operational procedures, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements for power distribution.
