Job summary

Placements24 seeks an Electrical Grid Technician to support operations in Vereeniging. This hands-on role focuses on maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of the electrical distribution grid to ensure a safe, reliable power supply for customers.

The ideal candidate will have a National Certificate or Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current) with at least 3 years of field experience, read schematics, and work under safety protocols such as LOTO.

Qualifications

• Must have National Certificate or Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current) or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Electrical Technician, preferably in a utility or distribution environment.
• Strong understanding of electrical power distribution systems and safety protocols (e.g., LOTO).
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and diagrams.
• Valid driver's license and ability to work outside normal hours in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical distribution equipment such as transformers and switchgear.
• Respond promptly to outages and service disruptions, diagnose faults and rectify them.
• Conduct regular inspections of grid infrastructure to ensure safety standards.
• Assist in grid upgrades and new connection projects.
• Operate and maintain specialized tools and equipment for line work.
