Job summary

Express Employment Professionals Midrand is seeking a seasoned senior leader to drive strategic plans, financial performance, and operational excellence in a metals manufacturing context. The role requires steering profitability, growth, and supplier/customer relations while ensuring global SHEQ compliance.

The position may require relocation to Mauritius, with a focus on enhancing production, procurement, and market share through disciplined budgeting, risk management, and workforce development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Metallurgy, or related Industrial discipline.
• Minimum 10 years' experience within the steel, rolling mill, or heavy manufacturing industry.
• At least 5 years' experience in a senior management or General Management role.
• Willingness to relocate to Mauritius and undergo annual medical examinations.

Responsibilities

• Assume full accountability for the business's profit and loss performance, including revenue growth, operating costs, gross margins, and EBITDA.
• Develop and execute the company's strategic business plans, annual budgets, and operational objectives.
• Drive production efficiency, product quality, plant reliability, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Lead rolling mill operations, maintenance strategies, and production planning to achieve output and quality targets.
• Manage sales growth, pricing strategies, tender processes, and key customer relationships to expand market share.
• Oversee procurement activities, ensuring the cost-effective sourcing of billets, consumables, spares, and imported materials.
• Manage working capital, debtor and creditor functions, foreign exchange exposure, loans, and letters of credit.
• Ensure compliance with all SHEQ requirements and maintain ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 certifications while driving additional accreditation initiatives.
• Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing management team and workforce.
• Promote a positive workplace culture and maintain effective labour relations.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, financial institutions, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders.
• Monitor business performance and implement strategies to improve profitability, operational efficiency, and sustainability.
