About the Role

Our client, a leading innovator in the renewable energy sector, is actively seeking a highly experienced Global Sourcing Manager to oversee the procurement of specialized components and services for their expanding solar and wind energy projects. This is a fully remote position, enabling you to contribute your expertise from anywhere within South Africa. You will be instrumental in developing and executing global sourcing strategies, identifying and qualifying new suppliers worldwide, negotiating complex contracts, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective materials and services. The role demands a strategic mindset, strong leadership capabilities, and a deep understanding of international supply chains, particularly within the fast-paced renewable energy market. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement global sourcing strategies for key components and services within the renewable energy sector.
• Identify, evaluate, and onboard new international suppliers, ensuring compliance with quality, ethical, and sustainability standards.
• Lead complex negotiations for contracts, pricing, and terms with global vendors to achieve significant cost savings and secure favorable agreements.
• Manage and optimize a global supplier base, monitoring performance, conducting regular reviews, and mitigating supply chain risks.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, project management, and finance teams to align sourcing activities with project timelines and budget requirements.
• Conduct thorough market intelligence and spend analysis to identify sourcing opportunities and cost reduction initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant international trade regulations and company policies.
• Drive continuous improvement in sourcing processes and supplier performance.
• Act as a key point of contact for strategic supplier relationships, fostering collaboration and innovation.

Requirements

• A Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, International Business, Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in global sourcing and procurement, with significant experience in the renewable energy or related industrial sectors.
• Demonstrated success in developing and executing global sourcing strategies for complex technical components and services.
• Proven expertise in international contract negotiation and supplier relationship management.
• Strong understanding of global supply chain dynamics, logistics, and risk management.
• Excellent analytical skills, with proficiency in spend analysis tools and financial modeling.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders across diverse cultures and geographies.
• Proficiency in global ERP systems (e.g., SAP S/4HANA) and e-sourcing platforms.
• Experience working effectively in a fully remote, international team environment.
• Ability to travel internationally as required for supplier audits and key negotiations.
