Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Logistics and Shipping Specialist to manage all outgoing shipments from Richards Bay, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance. The role requires coordinating with carriers, preparing bills of lading, invoices, and customs forms, and maintaining meticulous records.

The ideal candidate will have 2–4 years in logistics, familiarity with shipping software, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; a diploma or certification in Logistics or Supply Chain Management is a plus.
• Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in logistics, shipping, or a related role.
• Demonstrated experience in preparing shipping documentation and managing carrier relationships.
• Knowledge of domestic and international shipping procedures and regulations.
• Familiarity with common shipping software and online tracking systems.
• Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proactive problem-solving capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee all outgoing shipments, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Prepare and process all necessary shipping documentation, including bills of lading, customs forms, and invoices.
• Coordinate with freight carriers and transportation providers to schedule pickups and deliveries.
• Track shipments in transit and provide timely updates to customers and internal stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with all domestic and international shipping regulations, including customs requirements.
• Resolve shipping-related issues and discrepancies promptly and effectively.
• Maintain organized and accurate records of all shipping activities and associated documentation.
• Liaise with warehouse staff to ensure proper packing and labeling of goods for shipment.
• Monitor shipping costs and identify opportunities for cost savings.
• Stay updated on changes in shipping regulations and industry best practices.
