Job summary

Quality Assurance Manager role in Grabouw, Western Cape, SA, with responsibilities spanning from fruit intake to dispatch. The successful candidate will lead QA and food safety initiatives across the packhouse, ensuring compliance with HACCP and BRCGS standards while addressing audits and customer complaints.

Qualifications

• BSc degree in Food Science, Horticulture, Agriculture or a related field.
• Proven quality management experience in the apple and pear packing or post-harvest sector.
• Practical experience with HACCP and BRCGS.
• Knowledge of apple and pear post-harvest processes, quality defects, cooling and storage.
• Experience with audits, non-conformances and customer complaints.

Responsibilities

• Lead quality assurance and food safety from fruit intake to dispatch.
• Oversee fruit quality assessments and customer specifications.
• Investigate quality losses and implement improvements.
• Manage traceability, audits, corrective actions and customer complaints.
• Train and guide packhouse teams on food safety and quality standards.
