Job summary

Placements24 in Centurion, Gauteng, seeks an experienced Head of Procurement and Supply Chain to lead central operations and drive strategic procurement and supply chain initiatives. This senior role focuses on cost-effectiveness, quality, and timely delivery of FMCG goods.

You will oversee sourcing, inventory, warehousing, logistics, and supplier relationships while guiding a high-performance team to optimize ROI and mitigate risks in global markets.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in procurement and supply chain management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Proven track record of successfully managing complex supply chains and achieving significant cost savings.
• Extensive experience in global sourcing, contract negotiation, and supplier relationship management.
• Strong understanding of inventory management, demand planning, and logistics optimization.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in supply chain management software and ERP systems.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives.
• Strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience in the FMCG sector is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement robust procurement and supply chain strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Oversee all aspects of the supply chain, including sourcing, procurement, inventory management, warehousing, and logistics.
• Lead and manage a team of procurement and supply chain professionals.
• Negotiate favorable terms and contracts with suppliers to achieve cost savings and ensure quality.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors globally.
• Optimize inventory levels to meet demand while minimizing holding costs and stockouts.
• Implement and manage logistics operations, ensuring efficient and cost-effective transportation of goods.
• Monitor market trends and identify opportunities for strategic sourcing and supply chain improvements.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and ethical standards.
• Develop and manage the departmental budget, controlling expenditures and maximizing ROI.
• Collaborate with sales, marketing, and operations teams to ensure seamless product availability.
