Job summary

Nazareth House Durban is seeking a motivated Registered Nurse to join our care team. You will perform nursing procedures, manage medications, and develop wellness and support plans for residents, aligned with person-centered care.

You will supervise caregivers, participate in training, communicate with residents' families, monitor dietary needs, and ensure safety and compliance with policies. Shifts may include day and night, with a focus on dignity, confidentiality, and high standards of care.

Qualifications

• Must be a registered nurse with current practicing credentials.
• Experience in geriatric or resident-centered care is preferred.
• Able to work day or night shifts as required by operations.

Responsibilities

• Perform nursing procedures within the scope of a Professional Nurse/Registered Nurse and administer medicines per prescribed protocols.
• Ensure a current wellness and support plan for each resident and update as necessary.
• Report changes in residents’ care requirements to the Quality Care Manager and document in the resident’s file; conduct ongoing assessments and care plans.
• Manage, order, check, and supervise safe medication administration in line with organisational protocols and regulatory requirements.
• Assist residents with physical and mental health needs, maintaining high hygiene, care and safety standards.
• Supervise and support caregivers to meet care standards and organisational protocols.
• Contribute to staff training and ongoing skills development.
• Maintain effective communication with team leaders, residents, families, and stakeholders.
• Monitor dietary needs and liaise with catering staff; oversee meals served daily.
