Job summary

Nazareth Care in Pretoria is seeking a dedicated Carer to support residents with compassionate, person-centered care and to assist in daily unit operations.

The role involves direct resident care, assisting nursing staff, accuracy in record-keeping, and helping with household duties to maintain a safe, comfortable environment. Previous experience in elderly care is welcome; training provided.

Responsibilities

• Participate in planning and executing resident support plans to ensure optimal care.
• Provide basic holistic care and education to residents, considering family needs.
• Effectively use medical equipment and supplies.
• Support the Registered/Enrolled Nurse in delivering safe, quality care.
• Ensure residents' environment is optimal for quality care.
• Report medication reactions to the sister on duty, e.g., skin rashes, swelling, nausea.
• Carry out procedures competently after training.
• Perform administrative and general duties.

Job description

We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Carer to strengthen our care team at Nazareth House Pretoria. In this role, you will contribute to delivering high-quality, resident-centered care while ensuring the smooth operation of the unit through both personal support and essential daily tasks.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Carer will provide direct support to residents under the guidance of senior staff, while assisting in the coordination of daily care and household duties within the unit. This includes resident assistance, personal care, companionship, accurate record-keeping, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the care team.

YOUR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Participate in the planning and execution of resident support plans and ensure all residents receive optimal care.
• Optimally provide basic holistic care and education to residents, according to individual resident needs, with due consideration of family needs.
• Effectively utilize medical equipment and supplies.
• Optimally support the Registered / Enrolled Nurse in delivering a safe and effective quality care service to the residents.
• Ensuring that the residents’ environment is optimal for quality care.
• Report any reaction to any medication to the sister on duty, e.g. skin rashes, swelling, and nausea.
• Effectively carry out procedures once found competent in such procedures.
• Perform Administrative and general duties.
