Job summary

Nazareth Care in Port Elizabeth is seeking a motivated Enrolled Nurse to join our nursing team. You will provide direct patient care under RN supervision and support clinical and administrative duties to keep the unit running smoothly.

The role requires 1–2 years of clinical experience, strong communication, teamwork, and careful attention to patient needs. Duties include medication administration, record-keeping, stock control, and staff supervision where appropriate.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Enrolled Nurse qualification and be registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
• 1-2 years’ clinical experience is preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Job description

We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Enrolled Nurse to strengthen our nursing team in Port Elizabeth. In this role, you will contribute to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care while ensuring the smooth operation of the unit through both clinical support and essential administrative tasks.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Enrolled Nurse will provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, while assisting in the coordination of clinical and administrative duties within the unit. This includes patient support, stock control, accurate record-keeping, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the nursing team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Administer medicine as per protocols prescribed Health Management of residents and provide feedback to their families.
• Maintain the confidentiality of diagnosis, treatment, residents, families, and all matters pertaining to Nazareth House.
• Be prepared to workday or night duty depending on the needs of Nazareth House.
• Maintain the quality and standard of care given by nursing staff.
• Supervise staff and manage the administration of respective houses.
• Assist with the in-service training of permanent, temporary staff, and students, on basic nursing care and management of the aged.
• Supervise the serving of meals and monitor the resident’s consumption thereof, to ensure that any special dietary needs are met.
• Liaise with the Nursing Services Manager regarding problems encountered and immediately reporting same.
• Liaise with medical practitioners, keeping them up to date with specific residents’ problems and treatment.
• Responsible to meet with nursing staff on a monthly basis, reporting back to the Nursing Services Manager.
• Do quarterly performance assessments on staff and submit to the Nursing Services Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES AND KNOWLDGE REQUIRED:

• Valid Enrolled Nurse qualification and registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
• Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in a clinical environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
