Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a compassionate Geriatric Care Assistant to support elderly clients in their homes and community settings around Pretoria. The role focuses on respectful, person-centered care to improve independence and quality of life.

You will assist with daily living activities, monitor health, and provide companionship while coordinating with healthcare professionals across Gauteng. A driver’s license and reliable transport are required for local travel within Pretoria.

Qualifications

Certification or qualification in healthcare assistance or nursing.
Experience working with the elderly or in a healthcare setting.
Strong understanding of geriatric care needs and best practices.
Excellent communication, empathy, and patience.
Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and maintain client confidentiality.

Responsibilities

Assist clients with personal care, including bathing, dressing, and grooming, with dignity and respect.
Help clients with mobility, transfers, and basic exercises as prescribed.
Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding as needed.
Administer medication reminders and assist with medication management as directed by healthcare providers.
Monitor vital signs and report changes to the supervisor or healthcare team.
Provide companionship and engage clients in social and recreational activities.
