Placements24 in Port Elizabeth is seeking a seasoned Geotechnical Engineer to join our client’s mining team. You will assess ground stability, design ground support, and monitor underground and open-pit conditions to ensure safe operations.

You will apply soil and rock mechanics, perform field investigations, interpret instrumentation data, and collaborate with planners, geologists, and construction teams to integrate geotechnical considerations into mine design.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering, with specific experience in mining projects.
• Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software (e.g., FLAC, Rocscience Suite).
• Strong knowledge of rock mechanics, soil mechanics, and engineering geology principles.
• Experience with field investigations, including drilling, testing, and instrumentation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
