Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Geotechnical Engineer for major infrastructure projects based in Pretoria, Gauteng. You will lead site investigations, soil sampling, and laboratory testing, and develop detailed geotechnical reports for foundation design and ground stability.

The role requires 7+ years of geotechnical experience, proficiency with PLAXIS/GeoStudio, and full professional registration with ECSA or eligibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a Geotechnical focus.
• Master's degree preferred.
• 7+ years of geotechnical experience for infrastructure projects.
• Experience with soil/rock investigations and lab tests.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software (PLAXIS, GeoStudio) desirable.
• ECSA registration or eligibility is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site investigations and geotechnical assessments for infrastructure projects.
• Plan and oversee drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing.
• Analyze soil/rock samples and interpret results in reports.
• Develop geotechnical reports with foundation and slope recommendations.
• Collaborate with engineers to integrate findings into designs.
• Provide guidance on ground improvement techniques and risks.
• Ensure compliance with geotechnical standards and regs.
• Review contractor proposals related to earthworks and foundations.
• Manage multiple projects and timely reporting.
• Stay updated on geotechnical advancements.
