Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join our client in George, Western Cape, working on diverse construction projects. You will assess soil conditions, design foundations, and mitigate geotechnical risks across commercial, residential, and public works.

You will interpret site investigation data, prepare detailed geotechnical reports, and provide recommendations to ensure safe and cost-effective foundation solutions while collaborating with structural teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering.
• Professional registration with ECSA as Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant geotechnical engineering and foundation design experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan and oversee geotechnical investigations, including soil sampling and laboratory testing.
• Analyze soil mechanics data and prepare geotechnical reports with design recommendations.
• Design shallow and deep foundations, retaining walls, and slope stabilization measures.
• Provide technical support during construction phases, ensuring designed foundations are implemented.
• Collaborate with structural engineers, architects, and contractors to integrate findings into designs.
• Assess and mitigate risks from challenging ground conditions, seismic activity, and environmental factors.
