Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Geotechnical Engineer to support infrastructure projects across Durban and KwaZulu-Natal. You will conduct site investigations, assess soil and rock conditions, and advise on foundation design, slope stability, and earthworks.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's or Master's in Civil Engineering with Geotechnical specialization, is registered with ECSA or eligible, and has 6+ years of relevant experience with Plaxis and GeoStudio, plus supervision of

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering.
• Professional registration with ECSA (Pr. Eng. or Pr. Tech. Eng.) is advantageous.
• Minimum of 6 years of relevant geotechnical investigations and design experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and manage geotechnical site investigations, including drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing.
• Analyze geotechnical data using specialized software to assess soil and rock properties and behaviour.
• Provide design recommendations for foundations (shallow and deep), retaining walls, and earthworks.
• Assess and mitigate risks related to slope stability, settlement, and seismic activity.
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical investigation reports and design calculations for review.
• Collaborate with civil engineers, construction teams, and clients to ensure effective implementation of geotechnical designs.
