Job summary

GIBB Engineering in Durban seeks a Geotechnical Engineer with a strong background in soil mechanics and geotechnical design. You will lead site investigations, analyze soils, and design foundations and earthworks for major infrastructure projects.

The role requires 5 years of post-graduate experience, PrEng registration with ECSA preferred, and a focus on delivering robust, safe designs in a collaborative team. Hybrid work arrangement offered in Durban.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of post-graduate experience in geotechnical engineering consultancy.
• Registered Professional Engineer (PrEng) with ECSA is required.
• Degree in Civil Engineering with geotechnical specialization; postgraduate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and supervise geotechnical site investigations and in-situ testing.
• Perform geotechnical analyses for slope stability and foundation bearing capacity.
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical interpretative and design reports.
• Design shallow and deep foundations and retaining walls.
• Provide technical support during construction, including site inspections.
