Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Geotechnical Engineer to contribute to major projects in Vereeniging, South Africa. You will assess ground conditions, design stable structures, and mitigate geological hazards linked to mining and infrastructure development.

Responsibilities include site investigations, data analysis, model development, and detailed reporting. Requirements: Master’s in Geotechnical Engineering, at least 6 years’ experience, and proficiency in PLAXIS and GeoStudio.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 6 years' experience in geotechnical investigation and design.
• Proficiency in PLAXIS and GeoStudio.
• Strong knowledge of soil and rock mechanics and hydrogeology.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site investigations including drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing.
• Analyze slope stability, foundation design, and tunnel/excavation support.
• Develop geotechnical models and interpret data.
• Prepare geotechnical reports and design recommendations.
• Oversee construction of geotechnical structures and support systems.
• Collaborate with project managers, geologists, and engineers.
