Placements24 is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead geotechnical investigations and designs in Benoni, Gauteng. The role entails supervising site programs, analyzing soil and rock mechanics, and delivering practical ground-stability solutions for mining and infrastructure projects.

The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of geotechnical experience, Pr.Eng. registration with ECSA, and proficiency with Plaxis/FLAC. Willingness to travel to field sites is required.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
• Pr.Eng. registration with ECSA is essential.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive geotechnical experience in mining and infrastructure.
• Strong experience with geotechnical investigations, design, and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage geotechnical investigations and site programs.
• Perform analyses for foundations, slopes, excavations, and underground structures.
• Develop design recommendations for mining and infrastructure projects.
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports with findings and parameters.
• Oversee technical drawings and specifications for geotechnical works.
• Provide expert advice on ground conditions, stability and risk.
• Review designs and calculations by junior engineers.
• Engage with clients, project managers and regulators on geotechnical matters.
• Manage project schedules and budgets for geotechnical tasks.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians.
