Qualifications

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Geotechnical Engineer to support their ongoing and upcoming projects in the Queenstown region of the Eastern Cape. This role requires a hands-on approach, involving significant fieldwork and site investigations to assess subsurface conditions and provide essential engineering recommendations. You will play a key role in ensuring the stability and safety of foundations and earthworks for a variety of construction projects, working closely with site teams and project managers to overcome geotechnical challenges and ensure project success within the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and execute site investigations, including soil sampling, borehole drilling, and in-situ testing.
• Analyze soil and rock mechanics data to determine engineering properties and potential risks.
• Provide design recommendations for foundations, retaining walls, slope stabilization, and earthworks.
• Prepare detailed geotechnical investigation reports and contribute to project design documents.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies regarding geotechnical requirements and findings.
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols during all site investigation activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in geotechnical investigations and design.
• Proficiency in using geotechnical investigation equipment and software for data analysis.
• Strong knowledge of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering principles.
• Ability to work effectively in remote field conditions and manage site-based tasks.
• Good report-writing and communication skills.
