Placements24 is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join a George-based team, focusing on site investigations for construction projects in the Western Cape. You will assess ground conditions and provide data for foundation design, slope stability, and earthworks.

You will work with project managers, structural engineers, and construction teams to deliver reliable geotechnical reports, interpret findings, and integrate recommendations into project plans while complying with SA standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with Geotechnical specialization.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Geotechnical Engineer to join their team in George , focusing on comprehensive site investigations for diverse construction projects. This role is crucial for assessing ground conditions, providing essential data for foundation design, slope stability, and earthworks. You will play a key part in ensuring the safety and long-term integrity of structures by delivering accurate and reliable geotechnical reports. Working closely with project managers, structural engineers, and construction teams, you will contribute to the successful planning and execution of developments in the Western Cape, fostering a safe and efficient construction process through expert geotechnical analysis.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and execute field investigations, including soil sampling, borehole drilling, and in-situ testing.
• Conduct laboratory testing of soil and rock samples to determine physical and mechanical properties.
• Perform detailed geotechnical analyses , including settlement, bearing capacity, and slope stability assessments.
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical investigation reports, providing clear recommendations for foundation design and site development.
• Collaborate with project teams to interpret findings and integrate geotechnical recommendations into project plans.
• Ensure all investigations and reporting comply with relevant industry standards and regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in geotechnical site investigations and analysis.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software for modeling and analysis (e.g., PLAXIS, GeoStudio).
• Experience with various geotechnical investigation techniques and equipment.
• Strong report writing skills, with the ability to clearly communicate complex technical information.
