Placements24 is seeking a Geomatic Engineer for their survey and geospatial solutions team in Benoni. The role focuses on acquiring, processing, and analyzing geospatial data using GPS, total stations, LiDAR, and photogrammetry to deliver maps, models, and datasets for engineering, environmental, and construction projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geomatics, Surveying, or related geospatial field.
• Minimum 4 years of geomatic engineering or land surveying experience.
• PLS or eligible for registration with the South African Geomatics Council.
• Proficiency with Trimble Business Center and Leica Geo Office.
• Proficiency with ArcGIS and QGIS.
• Experience with LiDAR data processing software (CloudCompare, Pix4D).
• Strong understanding of geodetic principles, coordinate systems, and map projections.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute geodetic surveys using various instruments and techniques.
• Process and adjust survey data to establish accurate control networks.
• Develop 3D models, topographic maps, and GIS datasets from collected data.
• Perform aerial and terrestrial LiDAR data acquisition and processing.
• Conduct quality assurance and quality control of all geospatial data and deliverables.
• Collaborate with engineers, planners, and project managers to meet spatial data requirements.
