Job summary

SLR Consulting in Cape Town seeks an experienced Senior Geospatial Analyst to join the Geospatial & Data Solutions team. You’ll shape digital initiatives and collaborate across the Middle East and Africa while delivering high-quality GIS projects for clients across energy, mining, infrastructure and industry.

The role requires extensive ArcGIS/QGIS expertise, data pipelines, and dashboard development, with opportunities for regional impact and career growth within a global consultancy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography or related field; SAGC registration advantageous.
• 5–10 years’ experience in a consulting environment.
• Strong knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS stack including Enterprise.
• Understanding of global coordinate systems and projections.
• Experience delivering GIS projects and dashboards; web tools experience.
• Automation and programming experience (Python, R, SQL, HTML, JavaScript).
• Desirable: QGIS, PostgreSQL/PostGIS; Databricks knowledge.
• Experience in environmental management and sustainability projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide lead geospatial and data support across multidisciplinary projects.
• Deliver scalable GIS strategies aligned to regional needs and standards.
• Configure and manage interactive web apps and dashboards in ArcGIS Online.
• Develop data pipelines and integrate external data via APIs.
• Work with project managers to ensure proper resourcing and budgeting.
• Contribute to bids with technical inputs and QA processes.
• Mentor junior team members and share knowledge within the team.
• Engage with stakeholders and support tight delivery deadlines.
