Job summary

Placements24 seeks a dedicated Postdoctoral Researcher to drive genomics projects at their Tembisa facility. You’ll analyze large-scale datasets to identify novel variants linked to complex diseases, working with bioinformaticians, geneticists, and clinicians to advance human health.

You will design pipelines for WGS, WES, and RNA-Seq, validate variants, develop tools, and contribute to high-impact publications within a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• PhD in Genomics, Bioinformatics, Genetics, Computer Science, or closely related field.
• Proven experience analyzing large-scale genomic datasets and NGS data.
• Proficiency in Python or R and experience with bioinformatics tools/databases.

Responsibilities

• Design and run genomic analysis pipelines for WGS/WES/RNA-Seq data.
• Identify and validate genetic variants linked to phenotypes or diseases.
• Develop computational tools for efficient genomic data analysis and visualization.
• Collaborate with experimental teams to design validation studies.
• Prepare manuscripts for publication and present findings at meetings.
