Job summary

Placements24 seeks a dedicated Postdoctoral Researcher to drive genomics projects at their Tembisa facility. You’ll analyze large-scale datasets to identify novel variants linked to complex diseases, working with bioinformaticians, geneticists, and clinicians to advance human health.

You will design pipelines for WGS, WES, and RNA-Seq, validate variants, develop tools, and contribute to high-impact publications within a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• PhD in Genomics, Bioinformatics, Genetics, Computer Science, or closely related field.
• Proven experience analyzing large-scale genomic datasets and NGS data.
• Proficiency in Python or R and experience with bioinformatics tools/databases.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with experimental teams to design validation studies for key genetic findings.

Requirements

• PhD in Genomics, Bioinformatics, Genetics, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated experience in analyzing large-scale genomic datasets and next-generation sequencing data.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and experience with bioinformatics tools and databases.
• Strong understanding of statistical genetics and population genetics principles.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently manage research tasks.
