Job summary

Magnum Ice Cream Company is seeking a General Operator (GO) on a fixed-term basis to perform predominantly manual tasks in the plant, including feeding/loading materials, packing products, palletizing, and material handling.

You will work in a team, follow SOPs, maintain 5S practices, and assist with quality checks and shift records.

Qualifications

• Matric with Maths and Physical Science or N3 (Engineering Studies).
• Basic understanding of plant operations and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Start-Up/Shutdown procedures per SOP and perform pre-start checks.
• Provide packaging materials from line-side storage per 5S standards.
• Manually pack products to packing standards, seal and palletize.
• Follow existing standards and procedures for operations and safety.
• Record hand-over activities and shift events (cases packed/rejects).
• Work in a team and assist others with manual tasks.
• Adhere to SHE rules and report hazards in the work area.
• Conduct visual quality checks and report deviations.

General Operator (GO) Fixed-Term.

Straight Line, Tubline , Process Plant, Palletizing and Lollies.

Main Purpose of Job

To perform predominantly manual tasks in the plant, related to manual feeding/loading of materials, packing of product into boxes, loading or unloading of boxes for raw or finished products, manual palletizing, de-palletizing and fetching and returning of materials from/to pre-defined storage locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Process / Operation
  • Start-Up/Shutdown procedures
  • Carries out pre-start-up checks to ensure that the area and equipment is clean and is in a safe condition as per the SOP. Shutting down equipment and the area as per the SOP.
• Material Availability
  • Provides a continuous supply of appropriate packaging material from line-side storage areas to demarcated storage areas as per existing UMS 5S standards.
• Operation
  • Manually packs product to existing packing standards (incorporating date coding, appropriate corrugate and sealing and pallet configurations). Carries out cleaning and general operations to existing standards.
• Problem Solving and Decision Making
  • All work is carried out according to existing standards and procedures.
• Administration
  • Records hand-over activities and events that have occurred during shift (cases packed/rejects)
• Leadership and Relationships
  • Works in a team environment and assists other team members with manual tasks.
• Leadership and Relationships

• SHE
  • Adheres to Company emergency procedures, safety rules and regulations and reports potential SHE hazards in work area.
• Quality
  • Conducts visual quality checks of process material, and finished products that he/she may be working on and records findings. Reports deviation to technical operator.

Matric (with Maths & Physical Science) OR N3 (Engineering Studies)
