Job summary

Project A Recruitment (S And A Project Management) in Durban seeks a senior leader to oversee local operational control functions, reporting to the Managing Director and to European management. The role acts as the MD’s right hand, providing strategic and operational support across financial control, corporate reporting, legal compliance and commercial management.

Job description

This senior leadership position will oversee local South African operational control functions, working closely with the Managing Director and reporting to both local and European management.

The successful candidate will act as the Managing Director’s right hand, providing strategic and operational support across financial control, corporate reporting, legal compliance and commercial management in a fast-paced, growing business.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Corporate Reporting: Manage and streamline financial and operational reporting for local and international management


• Legal & Compliance: Oversee corporate legal matters, regulatory compliance, claims management and insurance-related matters, liaising with the Group’s legal team


• Commercial Control: Review, validate and manage commercial offers and contracts


• Financial & Operational Control: Monitor and control local financial and operational functions


• Project & Operational Management: Coordinate multiple projects and business functions while ensuring effective execution and control


• Leadership & Coordination: Work closely with the Managing Director, local teams and European management to support business performance and growth

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Relevant tertiary qualification, ideally an MBA or equivalent


• Minimum 10 years’ experience in senior management


• Strong experience in project management, operational coordination and managing multiple business functions


• Sound understanding of commercial contracts, legal matters and the South African regulatory environment


• Strong analytical, financial and reporting capabilities


• Proven leadership skills and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment


• Experience within the logistics or warehousing sector would be highly advantageous, particularly exposure to road and sea freight, including imports and exports
