TMF Group in Cape Town is seeking a Client Accountant (Funds Services) to deliver accurate accounting, financial reporting, and client service support for a diverse client portfolio. You will work as part of an international team based in Jersey and Cape Town, building trusted relationships and supporting junior team members in a collaborative hybrid role.

The role requires a degree in Accountancy or related discipline, solid accounting experience, and strong English proficiency.

• Degree holder in Accountancy or business related disciplines.
• Candidate with previous Accounting and Financial Reporting experience.
• Resourceful, independent and strong problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and communication skills, with strong ability to plan ahead and organise themselves.
• Analytical structured mind set with ability to follow and build upon existing processes and ensure data is maintained with accuracy and consistency.
• Fluency in English, speaking and writing.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word is essential, with experience of local accounting system desirable.

• Ensure timely completeness and accuracy of the accounting records while using the appropriate functionalities of the mandated systems.
• Prepare primary accounting documents, accounting statements and reports required by the client including management accounts (periodic and annual) and roll-forward financial statements (IFRS and/ or IFRS 102).
• Manage banking and payment services administration.
• Meet indicated deadlines for each allocated client.
• Support compliance filings (like CBI and tax filings).
• Execute primary documents in accordance with accounting for fixed assets, inventory items, settlements with customers.
• Day-to-day contact for clients under guidance of supervisor/manager.
• Record journal entries and accounting documents into the general ledger for allocated clients.
• Review accounting entries processed by assistants & administrators.
• Maintain chart of accounts and sub-ledger accounts and other accounting configurations.
• Identify out-of-scope service and inform team leader/manager.
• Liaise with auditors, tax advisors, lawyers, notaries and others for reporting and queries.
• Keep up to date with changes in local accounting and tax legislation.

As a Client Accountant (Funds Services), you will be responsible for delivering accurate accounting, financial reporting, and client service support for a diverse portfolio of clients. Working as part of an international team based in Jersey and Cape Town, you will build trusted client relationships, contribute to the development of junior team members, and ensure high-quality service delivery in a collaborative environment. This is a hybrid role from our Cape Town office.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for ensuring the timely completeness and accuracy of the accounting records while using the appropriate functionalities of the mandated systems.
• Responsible for the accurate preparation of primary accounting documents, accounting statements and reports required by the client including management accounts (periodic and annual) and roll-forward financial statements (IFRS and/ or IFRS 102)
• Responsible for certain administrative tasks, such as banking and payment services
• Responsible for meeting the indicated deadlines for each allocated client
• Support compliance related filings (like CBI and tax filings)
• Executes primary documents in accordance with accounting for fixed assets, inventory items, settlements with customers
• The day-to day contact for clients under the guidance of the team’s supervisor/manager
• Responsible for the accurate booking of all journal entries and accounting documents into the general ledger for allocated clients (depreciation, prepayments, re-evaluations)
• Reviews accounting entries processed by assistants & administrators.
• Assists in the maintenance of the chart of accounts, sub-ledger accounts and other accounting application configurations
• Identifies out-of-scope service and providing respective information to the team leader/manager
• Maintains contact with auditors, tax advisors, lawyers, notaries and other involved parties to obtain the required information for reporting purposes and deal with queries and follow up
• Keeps up to date with changes in local accounting and tax legislation
