Job summary

The Fiduciary Recruitment Group is recruiting a Client Accountant in the Cape Town area to manage a client portfolio and deliver accurate accounting services. You will review junior staff work and maintain high operational standards in a busy, client-facing environment.

Requirements include 3–5 years in financial services as a Client Accountant, strong bookkeeping, and a relevant degree or designation. Hybrid work after probation, with competitive benefits and study support.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years’ experience in a financial services environment as a Client Accountant.
• Solid knowledge of high-level bookkeeping and accounting.
• Commerce or Financial degree advantageous; professional designation advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Process bank reconciliations, petty cash and journals through to Trial Balance.
• Prepare VAT reports and reconciliations.
• Assist with creditor payments and manage Aged Payables/Receivables.
• Handle payroll administration.
• Assist with cash flow management and budgeting.
• Prepare and file statutory returns.
• Build and maintain client relationships.
• Prepare management accounts.
• Prepare and manage inventory reconciliations.

Are you an experienced accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced, client-focused environment? We are looking for a detail-driven Client Accountant to manage a portfolio of clients and deliver accurate, high-quality accounting services.

THE OPPORTUNITY

This role is ideal for someone who is highly organised, comfortable managing multiple deadlines, and committed to accuracy, professionalism and exceptional client service. You will also have the opportunity to review junior team members’ work and contribute to maintaining high operational standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Process bank reconciliations, petty cash and journals, and prepare accounting files through to Trial Balance.
• Prepare VAT reports and reconciliations.
• Assist clients with creditor payments and maintain accurate Aged Payables and Receivables.
• Handle payroll administration.
• Assist with cash flow management and budgeting.

Requirements

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• 3–5 years’ experience in a financial services environment as a Client Accountant, ideally in a high-volume role.
• Solid knowledge and understanding of high-level bookkeeping and accounting.
• A Commerce or Financial degree from a reputable tertiary institution is advantageous.
• Professional Accountant designation is advantageous.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
• Experience with Xero is advantageous.

• Approximately two weeks’ business closure over December/January, plus one additional free annual leave day during that period.
