Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Research Scientist with expertise in Formulation Development to join our client’s laboratory-based R&D team in Mahikeng, South Africa. The role focuses on designing, developing, and optimizing stable formulations for new products.

You will work with cross-functional teams to translate scientific concepts into high-quality products, apply physical chemistry knowledge, and contribute to rigorous formulation science and process scale-up.

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field with a focus on formulation.
• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on formulation development experience in a research or industrial setting.
• Strong knowledge of formulation principles, excipients, and drug delivery systems.
• Proficiency in analytical techniques used for characterizing formulations (e.g., spectroscopy, chromatography, particle size analysis).

Responsibilities

• Design and develop novel formulations for diverse product applications, optimizing for stability, efficacy, and manufacturability.
• Conduct experimental studies to evaluate the physical and chemical properties of formulations using various analytical techniques.
• Perform stability testing and shelf-life assessments under various conditions.
• Investigate and troubleshoot formulation-related issues during product development and scale-up.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and quality assurance teams to ensure smooth technology transfer.
• Document all formulation development activities, results, and specifications meticulously.

Education
