Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a diligent Food Safety & Quality Assurance Specialist to ensure top safety and quality across catering operations in Port Elizabeth. You will develop, implement, and monitor food safety protocols, conduct audits, and train staff to uphold regulatory compliance and company reputation.

The role is hybrid, enabling collaboration on-site with teams while also allowing remote analysis and independent work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Food Science, Microbiology, Public Health).
• Proven experience in food safety and QA within catering/food service preferable.
• Sound knowledge of HACCP, GMP and local health codes.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement food safety and QA programs including HACCP plans.
• Conduct regular audits of kitchen facilities and procedures for regulatory compliance.
• Investigate safety incidents and non-compliance; implement corrective actions.

About the Role

Our client is looking for a diligent Food Safety & Quality Assurance Specialist to ensure the highest standards of safety and quality across all their catering operations in Port Elizabeth . This role is crucial for maintaining regulatory compliance, preventing foodborne illnesses, and upholding the company's reputation for excellence. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring food safety protocols, conducting audits, and providing training to staff. This hybrid position allows for collaboration with on-site teams while also offering flexibility for independent work and analysis from a remote setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive food safety and quality assurance programs, including HACCP plans.
• Conduct regular internal audits of kitchen facilities, operational procedures, and staff practices to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Investigate food safety incidents, customer complaints, and non-compliance issues, recommending and implementing corrective actions.
• Provide training and ongoing education to staff on food safety, hygiene, and quality standards.
• Monitor supplier compliance with food safety requirements and assess potential risks associated with raw materials.
• Stay up-to-date with evolving food safety legislation and industry best practices relevant to the catering sector in Port Elizabeth .

Requirements
