Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor to oversee a large vehicle fleet on site. You will lead a team of mechanics, implement preventative maintenance programs, and drive safety and efficiency across all servicing activities.

You will diagnose and repair heavy-duty vehicles, manage budgets, and ensure compliance with regulations while mentoring junior staff and promoting continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in fleet maintenance
• 2+ years in supervisory/leadership role
• Ability to diagnose/repair complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
• Knowledge of preventative maintenance strategies and fleet management
• Familiarity with safety and environmental regulations

About the Role

Our client, a national logistics provider, is seeking a skilled and experienced Fleet Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the maintenance and repair of their extensive vehicle fleet. This critical on-site role involves managing a team of mechanics, ensuring all vehicles are maintained to the highest safety and operational standards, and controlling maintenance costs. You will be responsible for implementing preventative maintenance programs, troubleshooting complex mechanical issues, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate possesses strong leadership abilities, extensive mechanical knowledge, and a proactive approach to fleet upkeep. This position is essential for minimizing downtime and maximizing the operational efficiency of the company's fleet.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct the work of a team of fleet mechanics and technicians.

Requirements

• Trade certification as a Heavy Duty Mechanic or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in fleet maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Proven ability to diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on heavy-duty vehicles.
• Strong understanding of preventative maintenance strategies and fleet management best practices.
• Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and environmental compliance standards.
• Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and maintenance software.
• Ability to manage budgets and control operational expenses effectively.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Valid driver's license; a commercial driver's license (CDL) is an asset.
