Job summary

Mama Money in Cape Town seeks an experienced Recon & FinOps Manager to own daily reconciliation of payments and aggregator flows across currencies. You will ensure timely settlements, reduce discrepancies, and drive automation in finance operations.

You will partner with Treasury, Tech Ops, and FX traders to keep money moving smoothly. The role requires hands-on reconciliation, data-driven analysis, and a proven track record in fintech/payments; strong Excel, Power BI, SQL skills, and experience

Qualifications

Completed Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
4+ years of relevant experience in payment operations, reconciliations, or financial operations.
Hands-on experience using AI tools to build automated assessments, workflows, or alerting systems.
Strong Excel skills with large data sets and automated reporting.
Exposure to data analysis, dashboards or automation tools such as Power BI, SQL, or similar.
Experience in multi-entity or multi-currency environments, fintech or financial services desirable.
Experience with payment aggregators, gateways or banking partners is an advantage.
High attention to detail with ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Reconciling partner balances and settlement for inward and outward transaction flows.
Analyzing transactional, aggregator and pay-in-partner fees.
Handling cross-border reconciliation for inward and outward payments.
Resolving unreconciled items through investigation and problem-solving.
Providing balance sheet support via aggregator reporting to accounting.
Preparing daily variance reports and ensuring timely resolution.
Suggesting process enhancements and automation to streamline manual tasks.
Designing and implementing a recon roadmap focused on automation across the company.
Overseeing manual wallet adjustments including deposits, reversals and refunds.
Ensuring adjustments have business justification and proper approvals.
Overseeing integrity of manual customer bank account adjustments.
Monitoring daily money movements and customer-account exceptions; escalating issues as needed.
Partnering with Data/Tech to build automated recons using partner and internal data.
Providing month-end schedules and documentation for manual adjustments and transfers.
Assessing impact of new products/partners; defining flows, approvals and reconciliations.
Driving root-cause remediation and automation to reduce manual adjustments.
Producing FinOps reports on adjustments, aged exceptions, unallocated funds, refunds and control breaches.
