Job summary

RemoteCA Limited is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to oversee European finance operations within an international tourism and leisure business. The role focuses on strengthening controls, improving reporting, and building a lean, capable finance team across multi-entity environments.

You will transform processes, manage cash flow, and provide strategic financial insights to senior leadership in a fast-paced, evolving setting.

Qualifications

• Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA(SA), ACCA, ACA or equivalent).
• Minimum 3 years' relevant experience, including financial control and team supervision.
• Strong technical accounting background in multi-entity or international finance environments.
• Experience with European accounting operations is highly advantageous; exposure to US operations is beneficial.
• Solid understanding of AP, AR, payroll coordination, financial reporting and cash flow management.
• Experience with QuickBooks is advantageous, alongside confidence using modern accounting systems, automation and AI tools.
• Strong commercial acumen, analytical ability and strategic problem-solving skills.
• Proactive, resourceful and comfortable taking ownership in a challenging, evolving business environment.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with international stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Oversee multi-entity accounting operations, month-end close, reconciliations, management reporting and financial controls across multiple jurisdictions.
• Manage cash flow forecasting, payment prioritisation, receivables, liabilities and working capital.
• Lead the restructuring and improvement of existing finance processes, systems and reporting frameworks.
• Build, manage and develop a small finance team covering accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination and general accounting.
• Coordinate with external accountants, tax advisors and auditors to ensure compliance with international accounting, tax and statutory requirements.
• Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, introduce automation and leverage modern accounting systems and AI-enabled tools.
• Partner with senior management to provide meaningful financial insights, identify risks and support commercial decision-making.

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Financial Controller to oversee the European finance operations of an international business operating across the tourism and leisure sector.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of a finance function undergoing significant restructuring, with a focus on strengthening financial controls, improving reporting, optimising cash flow and building a lean, efficient finance team.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with commercial awareness, strategic thinking and a practical, solutions-driven approach. You should be comfortable operating in a fast-paced, changing environment and confident driving financial and operational improvements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

SALARY: R65,000 - R75,000 pm
