Job summary

Salix Recruitment is seeking an experienced Financial Controller for a leading financial services organisation in Johannesburg on a 6-month contract. You will own financial control, reporting and accounting in a fast‑paced environment and partner with key stakeholders.

The ideal candidate has completed SAICA articles with 2–3 years post-articles experience and strong technical accounting knowledge across statutory reporting, reconciliations and budgeting.

Qualifications

• SAICA articles completed and registered or eligible.
• 2–3 years post-articles experience required.
• Experience in the financial services industry is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Perform general accounting duties, including journals, creditor payments, month-end processes and VAT reconciliations.
• Prepare and review monthly balance sheet and income statement reconciliations.
• Assist with financial reporting and provide variance analysis and financial insights.
• Ensure accurate and timely financial information.
• Investigate and resolve financial discrepancies and queries.
• Contribute to the audit process and resolve audit queries within required deadlines.
• Review journals and ensure invoices are captured accurately and timeously.
• Monitor and maintain appropriate financial controls.
• Assist with budgeting, financial planning and cost optimisation.
• Analyse expenses against budgets and investigate variances.
• Provide financial commentary, trend analysis and reporting insights.
• Support the development and improvement of finance processes and reporting.
• Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Provide finance support and advice to the broader business.

A leading financial services organisation is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join their Finance team on a 6-month contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong finance professional who can take ownership of financial control, reporting and accounting responsibilities within a fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate will support the finance function across statutory accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, financial controls and business partnering.

We are looking for a hands-on Financial Controller who is immediately available and can step into the role with minimal onboarding. The ideal candidate will have strong post-articles experience, excellent technical accounting knowledge and the ability to operate confidently across financial reporting, controls, reconciliations and stakeholder engagement.

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
• BCom Honours in Accounting
• AGA(SA) or eligibility for registration with SAICA.
