Job description

We are seeking a Finance Business Analyst , this role is a contract role- onsite.

To lead business analysis efforts within the finance domain, enabling transformation through process optimisation, data-driven insights, and system integration.

The role will be pivotal in supporting the operating model design and finance process enhancements across the group.

This includes analysing and translating business requirements into IT system and technology specifications, ensuring alignment between finance objectives and technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Requirements & Analysis

• Engage finance stakeholders to identify and document business challenges, objectives, and requirements.
• Facilitate workshops, interviews, and meetings to translate business needs into user stories, functional specs, and system requirements.
• Develop business cases, assess risks, and perform cost-benefit analyses to support decision-making.

Process & Data Mapping

• Map finance and actuarial business capabilities, operational processes, and data flows.
• Recommend process improvements and system enhancements to drive efficiency.
• Guide users on best practices in finance operations and data management.

Testing & Implementation

• Contribute to system test plans and test scenarios.
• Lead and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and System Integration Testing (SIT).
• Collaborate with implementation teams to ensure successful delivery.

Training & Adoption

• Provide training and support to end-users on new processes and systems.
• Drive change management and ensure business adoption.

Governance & Stakeholder Engagement

• Build strong relationships with finance, IT, and external vendors.
• Ensure alignment between business needs and technical solutions.

Essential Experience & Skills

• 8+ years in business analysis and process mapping within finance, with 4+ years in insurance.
• Deep understanding of financial and actuarial business capabilities, processes, accounting principles, reporting standards, and compliance.
• Proven experience in documenting finance and actuarial requirements.
• Experience facilitating and leading cross-functional workshops.
• Strong grasp of finance data flows, transformation, cleansing, and visualisation.
• Familiarity with Data Mesh, MDM, and finance data lakes/warehouses.
• Technical proficiency in SQL, Informatica, and system integration methods (APIs, EDI, ESB).
• Exposure to AI, RPA, and ML in finance contexts.
• Hands‑on experience in finance ERP implementations and integration with core platforms.
• Familiarity with ERP platforms like Oracle Fusion, SAP S4/HANA, Workday, and point solutions like OneStream, Anaplan, MS Dynamics 365 FO, Coupa, and Blackline.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office, Visio, Jira, and both Agile and Waterfall methodologies.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Finance, Management Accounting, or related field.
• Industry‑recognised certification in Business Analysis (e.g., CBAP, CCBA, PMI-PBA).

Desirable Additional Experience

• Knowledge of South African financial and insurance regulations.
• Familiarity with actuarial business capabilities, processes, and IT architecture.
• Experience mentoring junior analysts.
